The New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE) is anEnglish-language translation of the Bible.It is the first major update to the New American Bible text inover 20 years.The New American Bible was first published in its entirety in1970, sponsored by Confraternity of Christian Doctrine.The fully revised Old Testament was formally approved by theUnited States Conference of Catholic Bishops in 2010.The 1986-edition of the New Testament and the newly revised OldTestament were released together on March 9, 2011 as the NewAmerican Bible Revised Edition.

With the development of stereotype printing at the beginningof the 19th century, this version of the Bible became the mostwidely printed book in history, almost all such printingspresenting the standard text of 1769 extensively re-edited byBenjamin Blayney at Oxford; and nearly always omitting the books ofthe Apocrypha. Today the unqualified title 'King James Version'commonly identifies this Oxford standard text, especially in theUnited States.
